A prayer
November 30, 2009
I don’t want to be remembered
As a man of great riches,
But as a man who suffered
the loss of all things
and was rich towards God.
I don’t want to be remembered
As a man of great strength,
But as a weak man
Who was strong in the Lord.
I don’t want to be remembered
As a man who could move mountains,
But as a man who loved deeply
And carried his cross for others.
I don’t want to be remembered
As a man of eloquent speech,
Nor as the greatest of preachers,
But as a doer, who lived what he believed.
I don’t want to be remembered
As a man who lived to a ripe old age
But as a man who followed his master
pouring out his life so that others might live.
But most of all,
I don’t want to be remembered.
Whether through life or through death,
May the Lord be magnified!
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
-Philippians 1:21
