The people of Ireland
April 9, 2010

I know this is kind of a strange picture, but the little red corolla was our transportation. We named it “Orla.”

I think a great title for this shot would be “People watching” (notice the ladies at the top of the photo).

Adrian and Ellen–our second couch-surfing hosts.

If you really want to get to know Irishmen, you must join them in the pubs. Because of certain school policies, I enjoyed lots of sparkling water and ginger ale, but no Guinness.

Jean, HJ, and Blotto on a morning walk along the sea

At the end of Jean’s penninsula stands this light-house

Then I went on a bike ride and tried to make sense of the road signs.

Nobody mentioned or even seemed to notice this old castle. I guess that shows how common and ordinary a castle can become when you live in a land filled with them.

On my bike ride I got to the top of a small mountain and it started snowing/sleeting. I waited about 5 minutes and it passed. Then, when I got to the valley, it rained for about 5 minutes and passed. The weather has been like this each day here, and I think it might be the norm. So, if it’s raining, wait and it’ll be sunny. If it’s sunny, wait and it’ll be rainy.
